BMX and mountain biking for juniors

Cyclingchildrenweb             Not ready to be a real cyclist then have a practice with our local club cycling skills on a regular basis and in (almost) complete safety, in Brooklands Park, Weybridge? Elmbridge Eagles Bike Club aims to introduce young people to different disciplines of cycling including mountain biking, road cycling and BMX.  The new session begins on Saturday, 11 January for fourteen weeks. The club is open to young people aged between 8 and 16 years old. They are divided into two groups, so that sessions can be tailored to their specific needs and levels:  8 to 12 year olds and 13 to 16 year olds. It takes place in Brooklands Park, Sopwith Drive, Weybridge KT13 0YU, on the tarmac which is closed to the traffic. The 8 to 12 year olds train every Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 and the 13 to 16 year olds from 10:30 to 12:00.  Sessions are run by a British Cycling coach. At the moment, membership to Elmbridge Eagles is free but the course costs £42 (for 14 sessions lasting 1.5 hours each). This also includes your membership fee to British Cycling. Children are expected to provide their own bike and cycle helmet. Cycle helmets are essential for these sessions as they are riding on tarmac (yes seriously).  Maybe pedestrians should wear them too! To book your child’s place, please call the Shout booking line on 01372 474634. For more information, call the Sports Development Team on 01372 474638, visit here for more information or email sport@elmbridge.gov.uk to sign up.
