Pothole misery across Surrey
Residents across Surrey have been complaining about the big increases in the number of potholes on local roads.
Some are so large they have been dubbed ‘sink holes’ by angry residents. One resident said that ‘some of the roads felt like bombs had hit them.”
Liberal Democrat Cllr Nick Dodds said “Roads in Surrey are officially the worst in the UK. There were 240,000 complaints made to local councils across the UK in 2020 and a quarter of those came from residents living in Surrey.
“The Tory run Council has paid out as much as £320,000 of taxpayers money a year in legal claims brought against it in cases relating to pot holes - the highest in the country.
“Taxpayers money should be going into front line services, not paying for Tory incompetence.”
