Station Zebra Crossing
Have you noticed the new illuminated pedestrian crossing on Weybridge station approach road? In March 2009, a South West Trains representative faced questions from Elmbridge Borough Councillors about services and stations. My predecessor, Lib Dem Cllr Miles Macleod said that Weybridge needed safe station access, but the station approach road was dangerous for pedestrians, having to step out from between queuing taxis to cross to the car park steps, without a marked crossing point. It was particularly dangerous after dark, with little light. Cllr Macleod asked SWT to increase safety with a proper crossing and lights. SWT said they would look into the issue. It has taken four years, and pressure from multiple councillors but finally we have a proper illuminated crossing. Cllr Macleod also asked for better secure cycle storage (soon slightly improved), and for safer car access at the station approach junction. The junction is largely a Surrey County Council matter, and Weybridge Lib Dems are still pressing for action, preferably a redesigned roundabout. What are your views on the safety of the station approach junction?
