Surrey Elections

11 May 2013

Thank you to all of you who have sent me good wishes following the recent Surrey elections.  I greatly appreciate it. Although we did not win I was gratified to see the details results at the count itself.  If you have not been to a count before, the first thing that the counters do is to empty the box from each polling station and count them to see whether the total tallies with the number of votes issued.  During this process the voters for each party are mixed up but one can get a good sense of the result in each polling station.  It was very clear that the Liberal Democrat vote in the two north ward polling stations was very strong and the further the polling stations were from where I lived the fewer votes I got. In Portmore Park polling station I could get as many as  ten votes on the trot (which is statistically very rare in elections) in the St George's Hill Tennis Club I hardly had any votes.
