If you want to promote your concerns to the Surrey’s Local Committee for Elmbridge then a petition is a good way. But be aware results are not swift because the committee meets about three times a year and there are several stages. Be prepared for the long haul but with persistence goals can be achieved
A petition can be submitted on paper to the committee. There should be at least thirty signatures, but it is at the chairman’s discretion and if it is an issue which only affects a small number, for example, a small cul de sac then the chair often accepts it with fewer signatures.
The partition needs to be received by the committee by e-mail or post at least 14 days before the meeting (so by Friday 22 August for the meeting 8 September). For it to be received by the Local Committee it would need to be an issue within its remit.
